Terrell Owens Released: What's Next for WR Following Failed Seahawks Experiment?
Veteran wide receiver Terrell Owens has confirmed on his Twitter account that he has been released by the Seattle Seahawks in their latest round of roster moves:
"I'm no longer a Seahawk. I THANK the organization 4 the opportunity, I'm truly blessed beyond belief. My FAITH is intact & will NOT waiver.
— Terrell Owens (@terrellowens) August 26, 2012"
Owens was in competition with veteran Braylon Edwards for the remaining wide receiver spot, but Edwards outshined him in practice and in the preseason games, according to NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
With plenty of game film to watch, it will be hard for any team in contention to buy into Owens after his inconsistency and efforts this preseason.
There will likely be a team that tries the star out, but it will not be an elite job.
What It Means
Owens failed to find his way onto an NFL roster and missed the 2011 season after having reconstructive surgery on his knee. The Seahawks were possibly Owens’ last big chance at glory, but a very memorable dropped touchdown in his first game with Seattle plagued his chances of making the team.
Despite the issues with age, there is no doubt that the wide receiver still has serious speed and the ability to get open. The problem for any team that may potentially sign him—besides the drama that surrounds T.O. at all times anyway—is the lack of effort he can show at times.
Owens has always dropped passes, but most coaches won’t stand for any kind of laziness.
What’s Next?
For Owens, the next few weeks are very important.
There will be a demand for WRs as injuries start to pile up across the NFL. So if he can remain in shape and out of trouble, a team will eventually come calling for a tryout.
As previously stated, the team that tries the veteran out will likely be out of or on the cusp of contention and will be willing to take the chance on the 38-year-old Owens.
If the future Hall of Famer can swallow his pride, he still has the chance to end up on an NFL roster in 2012.
