Ben Roethlisberger Has Torn Rotator Cuff in Throwing Shoulder
Ben Roethlisberger has a torn rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder. Did you just hear Steeler Nation's collective gasp?
Losing Roethlisberger for any length of time would put a dagger in Pittsburgh's playoff hopes, but "Big Ben" doesn't seem concerned, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Ed Bouchette:
""I'm good. It's OK, just sore," he said when asked about his arm injury. "I have a little torn rotator cuff. That doesn't heal. We just have to hope it doesn't tear the rest of the way, according to Doc," he said, laughing.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Roethlisberger may not think his injury is a big deal, but I'm sure Steeler fans don't like to see the phrase "hope it doesn't tear." It may not, but that possibility will always be there.
Losing Roethlisberger for an extended period of time would leave Pittsburgh without three of its household names. Mike Wallace hasn't reported to camp. Rashard Mendenhall's knee injury leaves his future uncertain. Roethlisberger's injury would only add to that situation.
In terms of value, Roethlisberger's injury would be the most devastating. He's spent this offseason adjusting to Todd Haley's offense, dealing with distractions, and he has a son on the way.
Additionally, important Steeler players have retired, and current players aren't on the field for various reasons.
Roethlisberger's presence is more important this season than it ever has been. He needs to be there to run Haley's offense, and he needs to take on even more of a leadership role. This is his football team, and the Steelers will need him if they want to win the AFC North.
Big Ben's lighthearted attitude toward his injury is a good thing, but the worst-case scenario isn't. If it tears or becomes worse, his season—and the Steelers' playoff hopes—will be dashed in one fell swoop.
