NBA Rumors: Latest Buzz on Possible Moves Around the League
Even though the most active portion of the NBA offseason has come and gone there are still ongoing discussions surrounding several players. With the season still a couple months away, teams are looking for various ways to upgrade their rosters.
Let's take a look at some of the latest rumors making waves around the league. All three situations warrant watching moving forward to see how they end up playing out.
Bobcats Chasing Carl Landry
Landry has been a constant source of trade talks during the offseason. He's already played for three teams during his five-year NBA career. And, if the Charlotte Bobcats get their way it appears he will be adding another one to the list before the fall.
Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld.com reports the Bobcats have been trying to work out a sign-and-trade deal with the New Orleans Hornets to acquire the power forward. The Golden State Warriors also remain in the mix, as well.
It would be a nice acquisition for the Bobcats if they can get a trade worked out. Landry averaged 13 points and five rebounds for the Hornets last season. He's just a couple years removed from 17 PPG, though, and still has some potential.
Andrei Kirilenko Staying in Russia?
Kirilenko didn't play in the NBA last season. Instead he decided to return to his home country of Russia to play for CSKA Moscow. There has been speculation that he might be ready to make a return to the NBA with the Brooklyn Nets.
Lefteris Moutis of EuroHoops.com reports that several sources have said Kirilenko will end up staying in Russia, although the 31-year-old swingman hasn't confirmed it yet. He averaged 14 points and eight rebounds last season.
The Nets, who have already made a couple high-profile moves this summer, would be a perfect landing spot for Kirilenko if he decided to make a comeback. That said, it looks like the odds remain on the side of him staying put.
Dwight Howard Stalemate
No player has been in the headlines more since the season ended than Howard. The Orlando Magic center continues to seek a new team, but his current one hasn't been in any hurry to move him and will likely try to wait for top-notch offer.
Talks about a possible three-team deal including the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers have gone nowhere fast, according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports. He says the same issues that ended talks with the Nets have caused problems with the Lakers.
It's pretty surprising that the Magic would continue to have such a hard-line stance on the subject considering Howard can walk away for nothing at season's end. They would be best off just taking the best offer they can find and move on.
