So, You Think You're Untouchable: Matt Hardy's Quest for a Real World Title

Joe Burgett Feb 14, 2009

From the Revolution to the Soapbox to the RAW Rewind, we have seen series after series in the wrestling community. Now comes "So, you think you're Untouchable."

It is a series in which I will discuss the events in wrestling people may or may not be thinking about. Without further ado, let's get started.

If you are a fan of wrestling most likely you are a fan of both Jeff and Matt Hardy. Maybe you are not a fan of the way they wrestle, but you love watching them. And we always want to see them succeed in the WWE or where ever they go.

Jeff made his way to TNA for a while and was still loved by many WWE fans. So that meant he was loved by the entire wrestling world. Unlike guys such as John Cena both the Hardys get big pops in what ever country, state, or providence they go to.

This is why we finally saw Jeff win the WWE Title. I mean Vince knows what the fans want and he finally delivered. And even without the title, he still is big. But the problem with this is that one Hardy seems to have more favoritism than the other.

Matt Hardy has enjoyed success in the WWE. He has been a multi-time tag champion with his brother Jeff and MVP. He has held the United States Title and the ECW Championship.

Most think that Matt had won a World Title when he won the ECW Title. But according to the WWE he did not.

The ECW Title is not considered a World Title by the WWE anymore. When ECW was its own company of course it was. Also they considered it a World Title when ECW first debuted as a Brand in the WWE.

But just as soon as ECW made its appearance and the ECW Title made its first WWE appearance, it seemed to lose value. Then all the sudden the WWE took it away from World Title status.

Which means only the WWE and World Heavyweight Championship are considered legitimate World Titles in the WWE.

So with that said Matt Hardy has never been a World Champion in the WWE, although his brother Jeff has. Which means that if Jeff can be a World Champ, then so can Matt.

Matt is considered the better wrestler out of the two, and not to mention better on the mic. He can fit any persona needed. He can be a babyface (good guy) or a heel (bad guy).

Jeff can only be a face. The WWE tried to make him a heel a while back and it was just too weird. Matt has been a heel about three times in his career with the WWE as far as I can remember.

But he has been a babyface for some time now. That is until he became a heel just about three weeks ago after hitting Jeff with a chair costing him the WWE Title he only held for about a month.

And now he considers himself and Jeff separated, never looped together again. The Hardys are no more. Which means Matt can be a World Champion and not have to worry about having his brother help him get there.

He can work on being himself, and I believe the winner of the Hardy rivalry will be in contention for the WWE Title. Matt wants to separate from Jeff, meaning he would have to win the rivalry to do that.

The WWE likes Matt Hardy; in fact they thought he was so good that wanted him to carry the ECW Brand.

I know it is the C show in the WWE, but if they think he is good enough by himself to get ratings, then that is saying something.

He did all he could do there, I mean he won the ECW Title. What else is left really, a rivalry with every new superstar? I don't think so.

Which means they would put him in the limelight, and that would get him a shot or two at the WWE Title.

I think that Edge will not be champion when Matt finally gets his opportunity at the title. I feel Triple H or another face will be champ at the time.

Matt is a great heel and should not have to change back to a face character to get a shot at the WWE title.

I feel he will in it by the end of 2009. I mentioned in a previous article that Christian Cage will be drafted to SmackDown according to insiders on places like wrestlenewz.com and others.

This could possibly mean Cage will win the WWE Title then Matt will win it from him. It would work considering Cage is a face character currently.

Only time will tell, but if the draft is in April and Cage gets drafted. He could win the WWE Title from the current champion possibly at Backlash or Summerslam.

Then Matt could win it about Survivor Series time or even like his brother at Armageddon. So that would make my prediction correct.

He is already Main Eventing in the WWE right now. So how long can they hold him from the WWE Title? Not to long I'm sure. He deserves it to me, especially with the way he is playing his heel character flawlessly.
