Why CM Punk Can Be the Most Popular WWE Superstar Ever
CM Punk surprised many viewers, myself included, by pinning Kane at No Way Out in order to keep the WWE Championship. I was almost positive that Daniel Bryan was going to get the victory, and the crowd would chant "Yes!" for the rest of the night.
Surprisingly, he wasn't even involved in the way the match ended. Kane wasted time showing concern for A.J., and the rest is history, as CM Punk finished him.
CM Punk has been around for a few years now—I believe his Monday Night Raw debut was in November of 2010—and here are some reasons why I believe that CM Punk can be the most popular WWE Superstar ever.

Fan Support
Whenever fans hear "Cult of Personality" by Living Colour, the crowd comes to their feet and erupts with excitement. If you think of all the great superstars of the past, they all received similar reactions from the crowd.
When the glass broke for Stone Cold Steve Austin, the crowd went crazy. When the lights turn off and the Dead Man's theme song comes on, the crowd goes crazy. And when you heard "If ya smelllll," the crowd would go nuts.
I think the fan support is only going to continue to rise for CM Punk as time goes on, and he has played the role of champion as well as anyone, since he has captured and maintained the WWE Championship.
In order for CM Punk to become the greatest of all time, he is going to have to be around for a long time, and if he can gain that longevity, there is no reason why he can not become the greatest of all time.
The WWE is Showing Faith
A lot of things have to go right behind closed doors for a superstar to gain immense support throughout many years. And so far, the WWE has shown that they have faith in CM Punk as a champion. I believe that his feud with Daniel Bryan is going to continue, and I also believe that Bryan is going to take the title at Money in the Bank.
But that just opens more doors for what the creative team can do with CM Punk.
Monday Night was the 221st straight day that CM Punk has held the title, which is the fourth-longest streak in WWE history. If that is not the WWE showing faith in him, then I don't know what is. They trust his personality just as much as his in-ring presence, and this can easily lead to CM Punk becoming the greatest superstar in WWE history.
Proven Success in Any Match and Any Storyline
When you think of a guy like Ryback, a main reason why people believe he can not become that big of a superstar is because his feuding abilities are limited.
This is not the case with CM Punk. He is not a super heavyweight, so he doesn't only have to feud with the larger wrestlers on the roster, but he is big enough to face those guys. He also has the explosiveness to feud with someone like Sin Cara as time goes on.
He has proven that he can play the relationship storyline with A.J. (for the record, I love what the WWE is doing with her right now), which is a common concept for the big stars. It is also evident that he is not afraid to handle any type of match. He has been hit with chairs and slammed through tables multiple times, and in the "PG" era of the WWE, it seems that's as hardcore as it is going to get.
Many things would have to go his way in order for CM Punk to become the greatest ever. But if he can stay healthy, and the creative team continues to base feuds and storylines around him, there is no reason why he cannot be.
Remember, I am not saying that he will be the greatest WWE Superstar of all time, but due to his developments over the last few years, I believe that he can be.
What do you think, WWE fans? Do you agree or disagree?
