Christian Cage Returns! Could This Be the Spark ECW Needs?
For months the entire internet wrestling community has been buzzing with speculation about the return of Christian to the WWE from TNA.
He finally made his appearance last night on ECW, which leaves us fans wondering—why?
Why would WWE waste all the hype that has built up, not through them, but from people like us?

We all knew it would happen—but nobody expected he would return on the WWE’s third-string show ECW.
Many believed that Christian would either appear as Jeff Hardy’s mystery attacker, or in some way to built a rivalry with Edge (which still isn’t out of the question), but it appears he has his sights set on ECW gold.
This is a very brave move by the WWE, placing Christian in the small ECW roster—for now, at least. But was this the right thing to do?
I consider myself a big WWE fan, but still find it very easy to miss an ECW show and not really care. Now I’m sure I will be glued to the TV on Tuesday nights thanks to the instant classic.
Matt Hardy leaving for SmackDown! to feud with Jeff created a big hole in the ECW roster, and the addition of Christian fills it nicely.
This could also be good news for the ECW title match at Wrestlemania 25. Many had thought there may be a Swagger versus either Finlay or Tommy Dreamer match, which would be okay—but nothing special. With Christian now in the mix the match will could potentially be a lot more exciting. Or alternatively, we could see him in “Money in the Bank.”
This could be exactly what the WWE and ECW needed, and may bring the spark back that seems to have been lost as of late.
I’m not too sure how Christian feels on the matter though. He became a big name in wrestling through his time in TNA, and many thought that with a move back to the WWE he would receive a world title push. Hopefully his stint in ECW won’t see him slip down to the mid-card again.
What do you think on Christian’s return to ECW, and do you think this will help the brand?
