The Dream Team Documentary: Untold Tale of USA Basketball Is Must-See TV
For NBA fans, basketball fans, Olympic fans or supporters of all things American, Wednesday night's NBA TV documentary, The Dream Team, is absolutely must-see television (8:00 PM ET, NBA TV).
In honor of the 20-year anniversary of Team USA's run to the gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics, executive producer Danny Meiseles has teamed up with some of the sport's best and collected interviews with all 12 players from the 1992 United States men's Olympic basketball team.
Here is the extended trailer for the documentary:
Team USA played eight games in the Olympics that year in Barcelona, its narrowest margin of victory coming in the gold medal game against Croatia, which the United States won by 32 points, 117-85.
Besides intriguing interviews, the film also includes a number of unseen, off-court moments that should interest fans, according to the New York Daily News. It is narrated by actor Ed Burns.
According to The Chicago Tribune, there are clips including Charles Barkley wandering around on a topless beach in Europe and Michael Jordan having a ball with Dream Team head coach Chuck Daly on the golf course.
Team USA's squad featured 11 Hall of Famers that year, a remarkable number and a group so talented that it will likely never be replicated.
Of course, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson are the two most famous stars of the Dream Team, but there were other superstars who took a back seat to the glory in order to help bring home the gold.
Charles Barkley and Larry Bird played some of their best basketball that summer, and Barkley even led the team in scoring during the 1992 Summer Olympics, averaging 18 points per game.
Included in the film are interviews with all four players as well as other rare footage of them during practice and in between blowout victories.
Basically, the producers of The Dream Team take viewers into a never-before-seen world of talent and personality.

Fans already know that the Dream Team won each game in the 1992 Summer Olympics by an average margin of 44 points, but they don't know what Magic Johnson was like during practice or how Bobby Hurley and a group of college studs downed Michael Jordan and 10 other Hall of Famers during a scrimmage.
Whether you love basketball or not, "The Dream Team" is sure to have a little bit of everything for everyone.
