WWE: 10 Feuds That Would Increase Poor Ratings and Push Young Talent
The WWE has been getting very stale as of late and with depth issues all across the roster, it needs a true refresh with some younger talent. There are many great young wrestlers who can come in and have feuds that would project them towards the midcard or higher.
These feuds would not just help refresh a product that has started getting stale, but it would also push the young talent that deserves the ability to be in the spotlight. In doing this, the WWE will get much deeper in their talent and will enjoy some of the same success that helped them in the late '90s.
Ryback vs. Mark Henry
1 of 10The Young Gun: Ryback
The Veteran: Mark Henry
What they are feuding over: Ryback finally has someone he just can't squash. A real feud with promos is finally created.
\Why they would be feuding
Mark Henry challenges Ryback's ability to go against a real competitor instead of the local jobber pairs he has been facing lately. Ryback gets to face someone who is over as a real WWE-caliber wrestler. If he can somehow get the massive Mark Henry onto his shoulders to deliver his finisher, he will finally be considered a legitimate monster in his own right.
Joe Hennig vs. the Miz
2 of 10The Young Gun: Joe Hennig (under his real name)
The Veteran: The Miz
What they are feuding over: The Miz talking smack about Mr. Perfect.
Why they would be feuding
This could be a real storyline for once for the Miz. He starts out by talking smack on multiple legends, including Rowdy Roddy Piper, Jake the Snake Roberts, Arn Anderson and Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, saying that they were never as good as he is because he won the world title and they didn't. Roddy comes out to do battle with the Miz on a legends show, but gets squashed quickly.
Then Joe Hennig comes out, cuts a promo about how he can talk smack about anyone today but has no business talking about the legends like Mr. Perfect or the other men listed above. However, since only one of the aforementioned legends has someone related to them wrestling today, he will come out to avenge all four men.
The feud gives a good storyline and allows for the Miz to help put over Perfect's son.
Brodus Clay vs. Kane
3 of 10The Young Gun: Brodus Clay
The Veteran: Kane
What they are feuding over: Kane kidnaps the Funkadactyls; Clay wants them back.
Why they would be feuding
Kane kidnaps the Funkadactyls to torture them; Brodus rescues them in the same episode of Smackdown. However, the beef between the two is created and they feud for two to three months, competing in extreme matches that show Clay's darker side that he is starting to show now.
Clay is a big, brooding brute and even if he doesn't win the final match of this rivalry, it will be a good way to put Clay over.
Alex Riley vs. Zack Ryder
4 of 10The Young Gun: Alex Riley
The Veteran: Zack Ryder
What they are feuding over: A newly created WWE Internet Championship.
Why they would be feuding
Alex Riley could start making fun of Zack Ryder, the self-proclaimed Internet champion, by starting to claim that the title is completely fictional. He would then expound on this by saying if Ryder actually did have a real Internet title, then he should defend it.
A feud is born, and while Ryder isn't exactly over as a mid-carder, the undercard championship in the Internet title could have many stipulations as an interactive title.
A.J. Lee vs. Layla El
5 of 10The Young Gun: A.J. Lee
The Veteran: Layla El
What they are feuding over: The Divas Championship
Why they would be feuding
A.J. Lee finally helps C.M. Punk retain his title and learns how to not distract the person she is trying to help at No Way Out. As a way to thank her and help her continue on a path of crazy destruction, Punk helps set her up with a Divas title shot. This is also a way to help distract her from his matches by having her learn how to compete in her own matches.
Layla and A.J. could continually swap the belt back and forth, but A.J. could be the next long-term Divas title holder, which would bring back a real focus to the division.
The Prime Time Playas vs. Kofi Kingston and R-Truth
6 of 10The Young Guns: "The Prime Time Playas" Darren Young and Titus O'Neill
The Veterans: Kofi Kingston and R-Truth
What they are feuding over: The Tag Team Championship
Why they would be feuding
This one is simple. The Prime Time Playas can't claim to be the best in the business or worth "Millions of Dollas!" if they aren't the World Tag Team champions. They start out by claiming that the team of Kofi and R-Truth don't deserve to have the title and that honestly, they are a disgrace to the tag team division since they aren't a real tag team, just two singles guys thrown together.
By breaking kayfabe for a bit, they can help put themselves over as well as earn the feud that would lead to a title shot. The power and speed combination brought by the Prime Time Playas would only be highlighted by a long-term feud with the athleticism that Kofi and Truth bring. After many great matches in this feud, it would be hard to argue that The Prime Time Playas, and new champions, aren't worth "Millions of Dollas!"
Damien Sandow vs. Santino Marella
7 of 10The Young Gun: Damien Sandow
The Veteran: Santino Marella
What they are feuding over: The United States Championship
Why they would be feuding
Damien Sandow is the "Intellectual Savior to the Masses." Santino Marella is a blithering idiot in comparison who is known for his joke of a finishing move and wearing a sock on his hand similar to Mick Foley. This just has a pure feud written all over it and could even lead to a promo about why an Italian has any reason to hold the United State title.
It could also be a great way to put over Sandow long term.
Tyson Kidd vs. Cody Rhodes
8 of 10The Young Gun: Tyson Kidd
The Veteran: Cody Rhodes
What they are feuding over: The Intercontinental Championship
Why they would be feuding
After Christian puts over Cody Rhodes for good as a top-notch champion, there needs to be someone else in line.
Why not the uber-talented former pupil of the legendary Stu Hart's dungeon?
Tyson Kidd is the best technical wrestler the WWE has toiling away on its NXT and Superstars programs. He has the look and talent—he just needs the proper feud to get over.
Dolph Ziggler vs. CM Punk
9 of 10The Young Gun: Dolph Ziggler
The Veteran: CM Punk
What they are feuding over: The WWE Championship
Why they would be feuding
Ziggler is on a path of destruction, and while he has been a World Heavyweight champion, he never earned the title and lost it literally 12 minutes after he won it.
Ziggler is a guy who can carry a brand if given a belt, and a feud with CM Punk would help put him over with the crowd as a legitimate title holder. Ziggler could start the feud by winning the Money in the Bank match and taking on the smaller of the two champions.
Wade Barrett vs. Sheamus
10 of 10The Young Gun: Wade Barrett
The Veteran: Sheamus
What they are feuding over: The World Heavyweight Championship
Why they would be feuding
There have been quite a few great rivalries containing either British, Scottish or Irish members of a feud. Barrett should be returning soon from injury just in time for Money in the Bank. When he wins, it could only be logical for the English vs. Irish feud to happen, especially now that Sheamus has started up a gimmick where he is the equivalent to a common soccer hooligan.
