French Open 2012: Updates on Men's and Women's Draw

After four days of exciting tennis at the 2012 French Open, today looks to be just as entertaining with several singles and doubles matches scheduled for play. Here are some early updates on today's events.

In men's singles, Andy Murray lost the opening set to Jarkko Nieminen, but then took the next three to win the match, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2.

Rafael Nadal dominated Denis Istomin in straight sets to advance to the third round.

It took Jo-Wilfried Tsonga four sets to defeat Cedrik-Marcel Stebe and advance to the third round. Also winning their second round men's singles matches were Nicolas Almagro, Milos Raonic, Mikhail Youzhny, Joan Monaco and Santiago Giraldo.

In what could be considered the most exciting match thus far, Fabio Fognini defeated Viktor Troicki in five sets to win, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 8-6.

In women's singles, Caroline Wozniacki defeated Jarmila Gajdosova in the second round, 6-1, 6-4.

Other women winning their single's matches thus far include Petra Kvitova, Francesca Schiavone, Klara Zakopalova, Angelique Kerber, Nina Bratchikova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. 

Virginie Razzano, who defeated Serena Williams in the opening round, is set to take on Arantxa Rus later in the day.

In men's doubles, Carlos Berlocq and David Marrero advanced to the second round, as did Mariusz Fyrsternberg and Marcin Matkowski. The American team of Matthew Ebden and Ryan Harrison defeated the Italian tandem on Flavio Cipolla and Andreas Seppi in their first round matchup.

Other men's doubles team advancing to the second round include Lukas Dlouhy and Nicolas Mahut, Santiago Gonzalez and Christopher Kas, Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau, Daniele Bracciali and Potito Starace, Paul Hanley and Jordan Kerr, Marc Gicquel and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, Mark Knowles and Xavier Malisse, Oliver Marach and Horacio Zeballos, Benjamin Becker and Lukasz, and Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic. 

In women's doubles, Liga Dekmeijere and Tamarine Tanasugarn defeated the American duo of Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears in straight sets to advance to the third round. The Italian team of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci defeated Timea Babos and Su-Wei Hsieh.

Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka also advanced to the third round of women's doubles.

In mixed doubles, Liezel Huber and Max Mirnyi defeated Vera Dushevina and Juan Sebastian Cabal to move on to the second round, 6-2, 7-5.
