WWE: How Would Jack Swagger Survive on His Own?

Michael PrunkaJun 5, 2018

On this week's edition of Monday Night Raw, Kofi Kingston and R-Truth defeated Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships. After failing to win tag-team gold yet again, there was dissolution among the members of Vickie Guerrero's stable.

In the end, Ziggler walked away from Vickie and Swagger, saying that he needs to be on his own. After Randy Orton came out to RKO The Miz, Ziggler was shown backstage with Vickie saying that he should be the one out there making an impact.

If Dolph Ziggler leaves the faction, where does that leave Swagger? Can the All-American American make it on his own?

While Ziggler walked away from Vickie and Swagger, it would seem that they will continue to work together based on the fact that they were shown backstage together later in the show. If Vickie does choose to stick with Ziggler, Swagger will find himself in a tough place.

Without Vickie in his corner, Swagger may find himself struggling to get heat. Ziggler had the same problem when he started working with Vickie but has since shown he can incite a reaction with or without her.

In addition, not having a mouthpiece could prove to be very detrimental to Swagger due to his lisp. Despite his incredible ability in the ring, he could easily get lost in the shuffle if he can't connect with the crowd.

His going solo is an interesting opportunity, though. A split from the faction yields a plethora of possible short-term directions for Swagger's character. Perhaps he could turn babyface on his former affiliates. A change to his stale character is long overdue. A babyface turn could be exactly what is needed to freshen up his character.

At this point, Swagger can’t fall much further. He’s the punching bag in the soon-to-be-over partnership between him and Ziggler. Maybe a split from Vickie and Ziggler is just what the doctor ordered.

Jack Swagger can certainly survive on his own. Personally, I believe he would fare best by turning babyface and moving to SmackDown. The blue brand is less inclined to letting the midcard getting lost in the shuffle. Swagger, with some tweaks to his character, could build himself back up on the show that was his stomping ground just a few years ago.
