Detroit Tigers Place Doug Fister on DL Again

Michael NargiJun 7, 2018

The Detroit Tigers received more bad news on Wednesday as they were forced to place Doug Fister on the disabled list.

This is the second trip to the DL this season for Fister and both times were due to a left side strain. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweeted the news on Wednesday afternoon.

"

Not good: #Tigers place Fister on DL retroactive to yesterday with left side strain.

Fister was placed on the disabled list on April 7 after only lasting 3.2 innings against the Boston Red Sox. He did not return until May 7 when he pitched seven strong innings of shutout ball against the Seattle Mariners.

Fister pitched three great starts following that start before getting rocked in Boston on May 28.

The Tigers have called up Casey Crosby to pitch against the New York Yankees on Friday and they will have Rick Porcello pitch on Saturday.

Detroit has struggled since their 8-3 start, and currently find themselves in third place in the AL Central with a 23-26 record.

Fister was supposed to be an ace in Detroit after going 8-1 with a 1.79 ERA following his trade to the Tigers during the season last year.

For now, the Tigers will have to find a way to win without Fister and hope that he is completely healthy when he returns later in the season.
