NBA Draft Lottery 2012 Live Stream: Online Viewing Info and More

Eric BallMay 31, 2018

Have you ever been at the mercy of a couple of ping pong balls?

For 14 teams tonight, the future of their franchises will be determined by the bounce of a little plastic white ball, which will decide the order of picks 1-14 in the 2012 NBA draft.

It is the only sport that has a lottery, which means while the Charlotte Bobcats may be coming off the worst season in NBA history, they only have a 25 percent chance of landing the top pick.

But that’s not the team with the most on the line.

Here is everything you need to know about tonight’s draft lottery, with the two teams who have the most to lose.

When: Wednesday, May 30, 8:00 p.m. ET

Where: Times Square, New York City

Watch: ESPN

Live Stream: ESPN3.com

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets have an agreement in place with the Portland Trail Blazers to send them their first-round pick…unless it is in the top three.

Ownership shrewdly put this clause in the deal, but they still only have a 25 percent chance of landing in the top three (7.5 percent of landing the No. 1 overall pick).  The bounce of the ball will drastically alter the future of the team formerly known as the New Jersey Nets.

With a pick in the top three, they have an incredibly valuable asset to dangle in front of the Orlando Magic for Dwight Howard. They also will have something they can show to free agent Deron Williams, who reportedly will only resign with the Nets if they land Howard according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

Without the pick they will be stuck with only the 57th overall selection and will be all but out of the Howard sweepstakes and Williams will be a goner as well.

Howard and Williams or nothing…that’s high stakes.

Golden State Warriors

If their pick lands in the top seven they get to keep it. If it is eight of higher, the Utah Jazz will own the rights. Considering the Warriors have a 72 percent chance of landing in the top seven (3.6 percent chance of landing No. 1 pick), fans should feel pretty safe.

I’m not sure if management feels comfortable though, considering they tried to swing a deal with the Utah Jazz to ensure they won the pick.

The 2012 draft lottery is incredibly important for the future of multiple teams in this league, but the all-or-nothing stakes of the Nets and Warriors will have their fans on pins and needles all the way up until the final ping pong ball bounces.
