Pacquiao vs. Bradley: Desert Storm Will Regret Giving Pac-Man Extra Motivation

Chris TrapassoJun 7, 2018

Easy, Tim Bradley.

I know you're just sticking to the typical pre-fight responsibilities of any underdog boxer by making overconfident and boisterous claims during his media workout, but should you be going to such extreme lengths against Manny Pacquiao, the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet?

The 28-0 American spoke in a hubristic tone in front of a slew of cameras at his Los Angeles gym (h/t Desert Sun):

"Tune in on June 9 when I destroy Manny Pacquiao."

Yikes.

Sure, Bradley should be confident: He's yet to lose a fight and has 12 KOs in his relatively young career.

But he's up against Manny Pacquiao, a legendary boxer who's as accomplished as any and has 10 more KOs than the amount of fights Bradley has on his professional resume.

The 28-year-old isn't nearly as powerful as many of the opponents Pac-Man has defeated on the past, and he isn't as technically sound as a fighter.

In the same video, Bradley spends most of his time discussing the magnitude of this event for his life and in his career, saying "I can't believe it."

He also touches on the fact that they're already promoting the next fight, which is built into the contract of the June 9th fight if Bradley emerges victorious.

Seems like a youthful fighter being pushed to take an arrogant stance.

There's no problem with Bradley entering the biggest bout of his career with confidence. He's earned it. But the additional, promotional comments aren't necessary.

They'll only hurt Bradley by providing Pacquiao with bulletin-board material.
