2012 NBA Draft Order: Lottery Odds and Which Prospects Teams Will Target

David DanielsJun 7, 2018

The NBA is about to shuffle its cards.

With the 2012 lottery being held on Wednesday night, the draft that we’ve known for the past month will get shaken up. Here’s the current order as well as each lottery team’s odds to land the first overall pick and who they’ll target.

1. Charlotte Bobcats—Odds: 25%

Target: Anthony Davis

If the Bobcats leave the draft with anyone other than Davis they’re doomed.

2. Washington Wizards—Odds: 19.9%

Targets: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Bradley Beal

Jordan Crawford and Chris Singleton are capable bench players, but they can’t start on a winning team.

3. Cleveland Cavaliers—Odds: 15.6%

Targets: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Bradley Beal, Andre Drummond

Cleveland would welcome whom the Wizards leave on the wing as well as Drummond because there isn’t a true center on its roster.

4. New Orleans Hornets—Odds: 11.9%

Target: Thomas Robinson

New Orleans needs a four and Robinson is the most pro-ready player in the draft.

5. Sacramento Kings—Odds: 8.8%

Target: Andre Drummond

Sacramento’s biggest need is for a big to play next to DeMarcus Cousins.

6. Portland Trail Blazers—Odds: 6.3%

Targets: Harrison Barnes, Perry Jones, Jared Sullinger

With two first-round picks, expect the Trail Blazers to either select the best available player or the best available big man to pair with LaMarcus Aldridge.

7. Golden State Warriors—Odds: 4.3%

Targets: Harrison Barnes, Perry Jones

Golden State needs an injection of athleticism in its frontcourt and Dorell Wright is replaceable.

8. Toronto Raptors—Odds: 2.8%

Targets: Dion Waiters, Jeremy Lamb, Damian Lillard

Toronto will most likely select a wing to play across from DeMar DeRozan, but it eventually needs to replace Jose Calderon as well.

9. Detroit Pistons—Odds: 1.7%

Targets: Jared Sullinger, Terrence Jones

If the Pistons solidify their low-post duo for the future in this draft, they’ll be well on their way to returning to the playoffs.

10. New Orleans Hornets—Odds: 1.1%

Targets: Dion Waiters, Jeremy Lamb

If Eric Gordon leaves in free agency, they’ll need a new shooting guard of the future.

11. Portland Trail Blazers—Odds: 0.8%

Targets: Damian Lillard, Kendall Marshall

Portland needs a point guard badly after the failed Raymond Felton experiment.

12. Milwaukee Bucks—Odds: 0.7%

Target: Tyler Zeller

Milwaukee is a true center away from making the playoffs.

13. Phoenix Suns—Odds: 0.6 %

Target: Kendall Marshall

Phoenix would love to add the closest thing to Steve Nash to enter the draft in years to replace Steve Nash.

14. Houston Rockets—Odds: 0.5%

Targets: Terrence Ross, Terrence Jones, Arnett Moultrie

Houston needs a future shooting guard, power forward and length—which prospect it feels fills the biggest hole will be the pick.

And here's the part of the draft that won’t change after the lottery:

15. Philadelphia 76ers

16. Houston Rockets

17. Dallas Mavericks

18. Minnesota Timberwolves

19. Orlando Magic

20. Denver Nuggets

21. Boston Celtics

22. Boston Celtics

23. Atlanta Hawks

24. Cleveland Cavaliers

25. Memphis Grizzlies

26. Indiana Pacers

27. Miami Heat

28. Oklahoma City Thunder

29. Chicago Bulls

30. Golden State Warriors
