Arsenal Transfer News: Robin van Persie Must Heed Family's Advice

Ian HanfordJun 7, 2018

Robin van Persie would be wise to follow the advice of his mother and wife. The two women want Van Persie to stay with Arsenal, snubbing every other club seeking his services.

In an interview with The Sun, Van Persie's mother, Jose, had this to say.

"Arsenal love him, and that’s a great incentive to stay. Arsenal are a fantastic club. They have no debts and Robin is idolised there."

Later in the interview, his wife, Bouchra, added her thoughts.

"Arsenal showed faith in Robin when he was going through a lean time, so we should not repay them by thinking about other clubs. Our home life and our children are happy in London."

The ball holding Van Persie's future is completely in his court. He can re-sign with the Gunners and be revered by Emirates Stadium crowds for years to come, or he can receive the same attention anywhere else.

He is a superstar, and superstars have endless options.

Let's take a look at why Arsenal should be the only option for the Dutch goal-scorer.

Love and Loyalty

The Gunners desperately covet Van Persie's electric attacking abilities. Why would Van Persie not want to play where he is loved the most?

Wanting to win trophies and taste tournament glory is understandable. Arsenal needs to commit to signing Van Persie, but they must surround him with talent as well.

The Gunners have already added former Bundesliga striker Lukas Podolski and are rumored to pursue Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey.

They may not be adding elite talent like Lille's Eden Hazard, but Arsenal is making an effort to keep Van Persie in London next season.

Van Persie needs to recognize Arsenal's effort and stay where his popularity and talent are already appreciated.

Elite Player in World's Best League

Van Persie could sign in any league, outside of La Liga, and instantly become the league's best player. He is a dynamic scorer with room to grow.

But why would Van Persie want to do that? He is one of the English Premier League's best players—actually, he may be the league's premier player. The only other contenders are Manchester United's Wayne Rooney and Manchester City's star duo Sergio Aguero and David Silva.

The EPL holds the world's top-notch competition. Van Persie should covet his title as the best player is the world's most competitive league.

He is entering his prime football years, set to make a ton of cash and has the run of whoever he wants to earn that money with.

Van Persie needs to honor his current alliance with the Gunners and return to Emirates Stadium next season.
