Eden Hazard to Join Chelsea: Has Lille Star Finally Made His Mind Up?

Will TideyJun 1, 2018

Eden Hazard's drawn-out transfer saga appears to have finally reached its conclusion. The Lille star will seemingly be joining Chelsea, and not Manchester City or United, next season.

It's worth noting Chelsea have yet to comment, and we've had no official confirmation from either Hazard or his agent. But we have had word from Hazard via his authorised social media account.

Hazard announced his decision on Twitter to end yet another day of frantic speculation over where in the Premier League he would land.

The 21-year-old Hazard was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the second season in succession in May after scoring 20 times in 38 appearances during the 2011-12 campaign.

It's been known for some time he would be leaving Lille this summer, but until his tweet on Monday, we were still guessing between Chelsea, City and United.

At one point, Hazard suggested a Manchester destination was all but decided—quotes as per Goal.com:

"

To Manchester, as I have already said. The decision will be taken soon.

I have made my choice 90 percent. There are always small things that can change everything. You will soon know where my future lies.

City have won the title this year, and they have great players, a great coach and a nice project.

At United, we all know [Sir Alex] Ferguson and all the talented players he has in his squad.

"

Then we heard from his agent, via The Telegraph, that terms had been agreed with City, United and Chelsea.

It appears Champions League winners Chelsea have finally won the battle for his signature, and perhaps now we can focus on what the Belgian international will bring to the Premier League next season.

It's time he led us on a merry dance on the field, rather than off it.
