WWE News: Very Latest on Chris Jericho's Flag Incident, Done with WWE?
Thirty years ago, a wrestling heel stomping on the flag of a foreign country would have gotten him major heat, and that’s all.
But today, it can nearly get you arrested and definitely get you suspended.
That’s what happened with Chris Jericho, who has been suspended for 30 days after an incident at a live event in Brazil in which he desecrated the country’s national flag.

The shocking incident has been the topic of conversation for several days, with some feeling that Jericho’s suspension was unwarranted and others feeling that he got exactly what he deserved.
But what do those within the WWE think? Well, we have an update on the backstage reaction to the flag incident and the latest on Jericho’s future with the company.
"Internal reaction to the Chris Jericho flag incident last week among the WWE talents was they were more shocked and upset than anything else. While it was a big deal online, behind the scene it was not.
The feeling was that Jericho was just doing his job but WWE had to suspend him because he violated the local laws in Brazil and because the incident could be used against the company in the future.
On Twitter Jericho still insists that he is done with this run in WWE, suspension or not.
"
Count me among the people who don’t think that the flag incident was a very big deal.
While I understand that the WWE wanted to save face by suspending Jericho, I don’t think the suspension was necessary, and I think this is an unfortunate result of people being far too sensitive these days.
How can someone not understand that the WWE and pro wrestling as a whole is entertainment? Jericho desecrating the Brazilian flag in a WWE show is on par with an actor doing the same thing in a movie or play.
It’s ridiculous that we live in a society where everything offends someone, and it’s even more ridiculous that Jericho nearly got arrested and was actually suspended for this.
Y2J was simply a character playing a villainous role, and it’s a shame that he can’t even do that without it starting some giant controversy that shouldn’t even be controversial.
Anyway, as for Jericho insisting he’s done with the WWE, how many times have we seen him do something like this?
It’s classic Y2J for him to deny that he will do something and then wind up doing it anyway.
This is just like the flag incident—it’s part of a performance, and we should treat it as such.
I don’t think that Jericho is going anywhere for good. Even if he does take some time off to tour with Fozzy later this summer, why are we to think that he won’t just come back later in the year?
Jericho will be back at some point. This 30-day suspension is just a bump in the road, that’s all.
Nothing more, nothing less.
