2012 French Open 2012 Day 2 Preview: Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer in Action
The 2012 French Open will continue on Monday, and in the men's draw, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer will both be in action.
Djokovic will play in the third match of the day that is scheduled for Court Philippe Chatrier. Federer's start should be earlier, as he will play in the second match of the day on Court Suzanne Lenglen. Neither Federer nor Djokovic appears to be facing much of a challenge, as the world No. 1 faces Potito Starace while the world No. 3 faces Tobias Kamke.
Starace and Djokovic have played just one time in the past, and the result was clearly in the Serbinator's favor. He defeated the Italian at Wimbledon 2007 in straight sets with only seven games lost. Bet365 have made Djokovic a crushing favorite in the match, as he is priced at -20000 (1/200) to beat Starace straight up. The Italian will be 31 years old this summer. He had a flimsy clay court season leading up to the French Open, and he does not appear likely to do any damage against Djokovic on Monday.
Djokovic could be taken to win the match in straight sets at -600 (1/6) with the same firm.
Federer is a little less of a favorite in his match; however, he is still a near lock. Bet365 have the Swiss Maestro at -15000 (1/150) to win straight up in what will be his first meeting against Kamke. Ranked 78th heading into the match, Kamke has no victories against anyone in the top 50 so far this season, and he has recent clay court losses to Horacio Zeballos, Marius Copil and Michael Berrer.
Federer could also be taken to win his match in straight sets, with bet365 at -600 (1/6).
