WWE Raw Preview: 5 Things to Look for in Tonight's Episode (May 28)

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

Last week's episode of Monday Night Raw is going to have a major effect on the WWE going forward.

Big Show has put John Cena on notice, Kane has thrust himself into the WWE Championship picture, and the entire roster seems to be at odds.

Thus, tonight's episode of Raw will undoubtedly play a huge role in how the WWE's current major angles shape up and what will happen as we head toward No Way Out.

I'm sure you know what to keep your eyes peeled for on tonight's Raw, but I thought that I'd remind you anyway.

Here are five things to look for in the May 28th edition of Monday Night Raw.

5. What's Next for Randy Orton and Chris Jericho?

1 of 5

On last week's Raw, we saw what looked like the start of a feud between Randy Orton and Chris Jericho.

But things have drastically changed since then.

News broke late last week that Jericho has been suspended for 30 days for the Brazilian flag incident, and it'll be interesting to see what the WWE does with both him and Orton while he's away.

Presumably, the creative team could keep this feud alive through video packages and replays, but what is Orton supposed to do for the next month with Jericho gone?

Perhaps the WWE will transition Orton into a new feud, or maybe they'll just book him strongly until Jericho comes back.

Either way, tonight's Raw should give us a pretty good indication of where both men are headed.

4. Santino vs. Ricardo?

2 of 5

It appears as if we are seeing the start of a rivalry between the WWE's two biggest comedians, Santino Marella and Ricardo Rodriguez.

This feud (if you want to call it that) kicked off on last week's Raw when Santino tried to teach Ricardo how to roll his Rs, and it continued on SmackDown when Santino beat Ricardo in a singles match that was actually pretty damn funny.

What's all this mean? The possible start of a rivalry between these two.

Ricardo is a trained wrestler and is already getting face pops, so it wouldn't be shocking to see him and Santino go at it each and every week on both Raw and SmackDown in a face/face feud.

This, of course, won't be a rivalry in the traditional sense.

But it could be a decent little comedy feud between two of the WWE's funniest performers, one of which manages to get a good face reaction even though he's associated with one of the WWE's top heels.

Don't be surprised if we see more between Ricardo and Santino on tonight's Raw.

3. John Cena's Response to Big Show

3 of 5

Last week's Raw didn't end so well for John Cena, when The Big Show surprised him with a huge WMD and knocked him out to close the show.

Michael Cole actually called this the "WWE's darkest days."

Obviously, that's ridiculous. But these days actually aren't great for Cena, as he's got both Big Show and John Laurinaitis to deal with, among others.

It'll be interesting to see what Cena does on tonight's Raw and how he responds to that big knockout punch from Big Show and everything that's been going on with him.

Will it be a verbal response? A physical one?

No one seems to know, but we do know one thing: Cena will respond in some way, shape or form.

2. Fallout from Last Week's Show-Closing Brawl

4 of 5

I'm feeling deja vu.

In 2010, we saw a battle between Team WWE (or Team Cena) and the Nexus that was essentially just all the top baby faces vs. all the top heels.

And now, it seems like we're seeing a rivalry between the baby face and heel sides of the WWE roster all over again.

Last week's episode of Raw ended with a massive brawl between all of the WWE's good guys and all of its bad ones, and I can't help but think that this is building toward another Team Cena vs. Team Heels type of storyline all over again.

Given the way the last one went, I'm obviously not crazy about this.

But hey, I'm willing to see where it goes, and we should get a sense of direction for this feud on tonight's Raw.

1. Announcement of CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan at No Way Out? Kane Involved?

5 of 5

It's obvious that the WWE Championship feud between Daniel Bryan and CM Punk is still going on, but it's also pretty clear that they're not the only two involved in it—Kane is, too.

As I'm sure you know by now, I think that Kane's involvement in this rivalry is completely unnecessary and has the potential to totally ruin it.

But the WWE seems hellbent on inserting Kane into it for some reason, and like it or not, he's going to be a part of it as we move forward.

The main question, though, is: How? How will Kane make his presence felt in this rivalry?

I thought we'd see Punk vs. Bryan in a steel cage or submission match at No Way Out. But it's looking like we could see Kane added to make it a triple threat or have him involved in some other way.

I absolutely hate this, but I guess I can't do anything about it.

We should find out what's going on with Kane, Bryan and Punk on tonight's Raw, though, and I wouldn't be surprised if a No Way Out match was announced, no matter what that match will be.
