WWE Rumors: Brock Lesnar, Chris Jericho, CM Punk and Monday's Top WWE News

Adam WellsJun 5, 2018

We can say this for this week's Monday Night Raw: It immediately starts with a lot of intrigue due to the issues with Chris Jericho late last week.

Jericho was suspended for 30 days last Friday due to an incident in Brazil involving the country's flag. That will nix the plans WWE had for Jericho vs. Randy Orton at No Way Out on June 17. Creative is already dealing with the constant changes Vince McMahon wants to make, and now this.

The best solution I have would put Orton in the world title match against Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio. WWE did it with him and Jericho last month to dress up the Sheamus-Del Rio match and it worked fine. Why not do it again?

While we await the answer to the Orton mystery, here are the rumors and links for Memorial Day.

BROCK LESNAR LOOKING AT MORE MMA

While WWE is busy trying to figure out when it will use Lesnar again, he was busy making the trek to Las Vegas to see UFC 146. UFC president Dana White said after the show that Lesnar could be looking to get back in the Octagon.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Is Lesnar really going to go back to UFC?

Our Take: While I would never put anything past Lesnar, it seems doubtful at this stage of his life he would want to do that. He made more than enough money working with the company for four years and is getting a lot of money for a handful of dates in WWE.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 MMA-WWE Rivalries

Even if Lesnar wants to go back to UFC, his WWE contract is not likely to give him the freedom to do so. It would be interesting to see someone try to balance the two sports. (Of course, with TNA and Bellator signing Muhammad Lawal, we will be able to see that later this year.)

CHRIS JERICHO'S SUSPENSION SHOULD BE LESSON

While Jericho was the talk of the wrestling world over the weekend for the situation involving the Brazilian flag, this whole incident should serve as a lesson to future performers. There have been a lot of incidents in the past with stars trying to generate cheap heat, but there has to be a line that is not crossed.

Question on Everybody's Mind: How does WWE curtail these problems?

Our Take: Instead of stars going after the flag or interrupting the National Anthem—which is how Finlay got fired—just have them cut a cheap promo on the crowd. Make sure nothing too derogatory is said; just make it so the people want to boo you.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Reasons The World Ends

Jericho understands better than a lot of people what it means to be a true heel. But there are certain lines that shouldn't be crossed. Every country takes great pride in its flag, so using it as a prop to get heat is not smart.

CM PUNK DOESN'T LIKE WWE RANKINGS

Since most fans know that WWE lists and rankings are garbage, it is refreshing to see a wrestler, particularly the WWE champion, call the company out for its obvious biases. CM Punk was outraged at Roddy Piper not being on the list, and expressed his rage on Twitter

"

@JRsBBQ @joeystyles that list is a joke because Piper isn'tnumber one. Typical WWE revisionist history/political favoritism.

— CM Punk (@CMPunk) May 26, 2012"

Question on Everybody's Mind: Why does WWE create its own version of history?

Our Take: Vince McMahon is a special kind of creature. He is not stupid, but he does a lot of stupid things. Nothing goes up anywhere without him seeing it, and everything depends on how he feels on a given day.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Wrestlers Calling Out WWE

These things might not sound like a big deal, but it is part of why there is a lot of backlash towards WWE. You can't distort your own history and a wrestler's skills to make yourself feel better. Of course, if things were told as they should be, the product would be much different. Sadly, we don't live in that kind of world.

TRIPLE H ADVERTISED FOR SMACKDOWN

It is always interesting to look at things WWE advertises for its events, mainly because they rarely ever come to fruition. The latest advertisement that is laughable has Triple H showing up at the June 12 SmackDown tapings.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Is Triple H showing up on SmackDown?

Our Take: The odds of Triple H showing up on SmackDown are just slightly above the odds of him appearing on NXT. Unless he is put in a position of power again on television, he isn't showing up on the blue brand.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 False Advertisements

WWE will stop at nothing to get people to buy tickets. There is going to come a day when they just start advertising random people who don't even work for the company anymore to appear on shows. Still, it is always fun to look at advertised lineups and compare them to what actually happens.
