Why CM Punk's Reaction to WWE's 'Top Masters of the Mic' List Is Ridiculous

In response to a WWE.com list of what WWE believes to be the "Top 25 Masters of the Mic," CM Punk posted the following on Twitter:

That list is a joke because Piper isn't number one. Typical WWE revisionist history/political favoritism.

"

I love CM Punk, but the real joke is that he doesn’t seem to realize that many lists consisting of rankings are subjective—or based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes or opinions.

I personally would’ve put Macho Man Randy Savage at No. 1 on the list, but he’s ranked No. 11. JBL, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Dusty Rhodes, John Cena, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Chris Jericho, Ric Flair, The Rock, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Stone Cold Steve Austin are all ranked higher. 

Some of my favorite talkers aren’t even on the list—like Ultimate Warrior, Booker T, Paul Bearer, Jim Ross and The Berzerker! "Huss! Huss! Huss!" 

Even so, I'm not bothered.

That's because there’s no way to have an objective list about the "Top 25 Masters of the Mic." A ranked list on the longest reigning champions? Yes, but not a list about the best talkers. One man’s greatest talker is another man’s worst talker.

I did not write this article just to point out the subjectivity of certain ranked lists or how ridiculous it is to expect them to be perfect. Rather, I'd also like to point out something interesting about Punk's tweet.

The one wrestler who was ranked higher than Rowdy Roddy Piper was Stone Cold Steve Austin—who has been engaged in a Twitter war with CM Punk for quite some time now and who many fans hope to see face CM Punk at WrestleMania XXIX.

By calling the list a joke, CM Punk has implied that Stone Cold doesn't deserve to be ranked No. 1. Stone Cold was the subject of three other tweets by Punk today:

After looking at the three tweets above, do you believe that CM Punk called the list a "joke" in order to insult Stone Cold?

Even if I'm taking things out of proportion, CM Punk's tweets have no doubt added fuel to any potential feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin.
