Monaco Grand Prix 2012: Drivers to Watch for in Formula One Showdown
The 2012 Grand Prix of Monaco is one of Formula One's most prestigious races of the year, and some of the world's best drivers will be taking part in this year's event.
Mark Webber claimed the pole and will be tough to beat, but if anyone can pass him and pull out the win it's one of these drivers.
Sebastian Vettel
German Sebastian Vettel won the race last year and will look to join the rare class of drivers who have conquered the Grand Prix of Monaco more than once.
The 24-year-old phenom has two Formula One championships already and will surely be in the running for another in 2012.
Michael Schumacher
The German racing genius has won five times at Monaco, but not in over a decade; Schumacher's last win at the Grand Prix of Monaco came in 2001. Only Brazilian racer Ayrton Senna has more wins at Monaco than Schumacher.
Schumacher has 91 career Formula One wins and seven championships, so his resume cannot be denied. Keep an eye out for Schumacher to potentially end his winless drought this weekend.
Spaniard Fernando Alonso has won twice at Monaco, winning back-to-back in 2006 and 2007. The 30-year-old has 28 Formula One victories under his belt and two championships.
Alonso is always toward the front and shouldn't be far behind this weekend at the Grand Prix of Monaco.
