Froch vs. Bute: Former Champ Doesn't Deserve Title Rematch
Carl Froch's beat down of Lucian Bute not only showed how much better the new champ is than the old one, but how Bute's reported rematch clause (according to FoxNews.com) should be voided immediately.
"A rematch clause in the contract says another fight between the two would be held in Canada, where Bute lives and usually fights.
"
Also pointed out in the same Fox News report is how a potential rematch would be held in more comfortable surroundings for the former champ. As if it wasn't enough Bute could possibly make another small fortune for such a big-name fight.
The fight between Froch and Bute was never really close. Bute might have gotten one solid round in, but even that's debatable.
His only glimmer of hope came in the fourth round when it seemed Bute would rebound and actually make this a fight. But his efforts were thwarted as Froch pounded him, setting up what would be a fifth and final round.
Domination was the clear theme of this fight.
Froch controlled each and every round of this quick fight and promptly put Bute out of his misery. It was evident that Bute didn't belong in the same ring as the guy brutally taking his IBF super middleweight belt.
A rematch would be wasting the time of every single person who doesn't stand to make a penny off another fight. At this point, the only fight people should want to see is a showdown between Froch and the current No. 1 super middleweight, Andre Ward.
But, as usual, the fight we want to see won't happen. Instead, we'll be subjected to spending months waiting for a rematch that will inevitably end up the same way as the first showdown.
Here's to hoping Ward vs. Froch happens sometime soon.
