US Soccer's Michael Bradley Nets Incredible Strike in Friendly vs. Scotland

Steven CookJun 6, 2018

Remember when US midfielder Michael Bradley's mediocre play in the 2010 World Cup had fans thinking his presence was just because of his father's position as head coach?

Not anymore.

If Bradley wasn't out of the shadows of his father before, he is now after this strike. Nearly a minute after Landon Donovan put the Americans up 1-0 over Scotland, the US hustled down the field and Jermaine Jones set Bradley up with a straight shot from more than 25 yards out that found the top right corner.

No goalkeeper is touching that.

Bradley has stuck with the national team despite his dad's firing after the World Cup and has vastly improved as a midfielder. The extra work he's put in over the last two years has gone all but noticed.

Until now.

He absolutely rocked this one, and whether it was a friendly or not, it won't be quickly forgotten.

Bradley's incredible goal couldn't have come at a better time for Jurgen Klinsmann. His squad hasn't played up to their potential since he took over and he's been facing scrutiny for it.

Today's game also marked the first of five games between now and June 12, which includes three friendlies and two World Cup qualifiers. It's safe to say Klinsmann needs his team to start peaking now.

And Bradley, the cog of the team at midfield and a growing leader on the pitch, needs to lead the charge.

There's no better way to build confidence than by running full force and putting your laces through a ball from Cristiano Ronaldo range and striking a sure-fire highlight-reel masterpiece.

The Americans sure are breaking in those "Where's Waldo?" jerseys in style.
