ACC Baseball Tournament 2012: When and Where to Catch Championship Game

Andrew KulhaMay 26, 2012

The ACC baseball tournament is set to conclude Sunday afternoon in what is sure to be an epic finale of a great few days of baseball.

In the beginning, eight teams entered the round robin tournament with hopes of coming out on top, but in the end, it will only be one who can call themselves the ACC baseball champions.

The tournament hasn't disappointed so far, as the last seeded Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have found themselves as the winner of Pool A and in the championship game, undefeated in the tournament at 3-0. They've been dominant at times in their run to the ACC final, which included a 17-5 beat down against Virginia, so they'll be the team to beat in the final despite their low seeding.

Meanwhile, either Miami or NC State will have the opportunity to play Georgia Tech in the final, but that all depends on what happens in Game 12 (7 p.m. EST Saturday on ESPN3), which will decide the winner of Pool B.

How Pool B Plays Out:

If North Carolina Wins: If the Tar Heels win, they would be at 2-1 in the tournament, which would tie them with Miami. Miami possesses the tiebreak over them though because they beat the Tar Heels 5-3 on Thursday.

Outcome: Miami Advances to Championship.

If NC State Wins: If NC State wins, they would also be at 2-1 on the tournament and tied with Miami. They, on the other hand, beat the Hurricanes 3-2 on the tournament's first day, so NC State would have the tiebreak.

Outcome: NC State Advances to Championship.

Championship Game:

Here's all the info you need on where and when you can catch the championship game...

Georgia Tech vs. Miami or NC State (Check back for updates on Pool B)

Where: NewBridge Bank Park. Greensboro, N.C

When: Sunday, May 27 at Noon EST

Watch: ESPN2

Player to Watch—Jake Davies, Georgia Tech:

No matter who ends up playing Georgia Tech, all the attention has to go Yellow Jackets' star Jake Davies, who can dominate the game on the pitchers mound or with his bat.

In Georgia Tech's last win against Clemson, Davies pitched six innings, allowing just two hits and a run, and also knocked over a two-run home run. He's hit four home runs in the tournament so far, so he's undoubtedly riding a hot streak.

The guy can change the game with one swing of the bat, so he's the player you need to watch.

Prediction:

With Davies hitting so hot right now and this Yellow Jackets team on a roll, I don't see them letting off in the championship game.

Georgia Tech will win the 2012 ACC baseball tournament.
