Manchester United Transfer Rumours: Red Devils' Aggressiveness Is Great Sign

Tim DanielsJun 7, 2018

Even though Manchester United was just minutes away from winning another Premier League title before Manchester City stole it away, manager Sir Alex Ferguson is sending a clear message that second place isn't good enough by being aggressive in the transfer market.

The Red Devils are one of the teams heavily involved in the Eden Hazard sweepstakes and have also stepped up their efforts to land Borussia Dortmund star Shinji Kagawa, according to the Daily Mail.

Adding two dynamic offensive weapons to the squad would provide a major boost to United. The team had a lack of scoring depth behind Wayne Rooney this season with only one other player, Javier Hernandez, reaching a double-digit goal total in league play.

Hazard has quickly become one of the most coveted players on the transfer market thanks to another impressive season with Lille in France. The 21-year-old Belgian sensation helped lead Lille to a third-place finish in Ligue 1 with 20 goals in 38 games.

He features a terrific combination of pace and skill that will be difficult to stop, even for Premier League defenders. A player like him doesn't come around often, so it's no surprise to see some of England's top teams trying to land him.

The best thing about him for Ferguson is that he would be ready to step right into the lineup. Aside from a minor transition period to acclimate himself to the league's style, he should have no problem making an impact right away.

And that's what Manchester United needs to keep pace with City. The rivalry is heating up and Ferguson looks prepared to do whatever it takes to get back on top.

Just like Hazard, Kagawa is a rising star with a bright future. He's spent the past two seasons with German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund after starting his career with Cerezo Osaka in Japan.

He was able to make that jump without any problems, so the Red Devils would be expecting the same type of smooth move this time around.

Kagawa tallied 13 goals for Dortmund in Bundesliga play this season. He would provide even more midfield depth and would eventually become a key cog in the United lineup. At 23, he still has plenty of time to develop.

All told, both moves would have a positive effect on United. The Red Devils get two future stars and make a statement to the other contenders that they are going to get right back into the title mix next season, which should help the mental approach of the entire squad.

It looks great on paper. Now Ferguson must work to get the job done like he's done so many times in the past.
