Chris Jericho Incident and 5 Other Bonehead Moves by Wrestlers at Live Events

Gone Baby GoneJun 7, 2018

As we all know by now, Chris Jericho has been suspended by the WWE due to desecrating the flag of Brazil at a live WWE event.

Obviously, Jericho meant no harm in this, as he was probably attempting to get some cheap heat.

However, this stunt wound up backfiring on him and he ultimately had to flee the country.

This was a bold move, as this was the WWE's debut show in Brazil and probably not the type of press they were anticipating.

In the end, this may cost Jericho his job with the WWE or force the company to enact a policy on how to conduct yourself overseas. Either way, this suspension does not bode well for Jericho or his fans.

However, it should be noted that Chris Jericho is not the first wrestler to make a poor decision at a live event.

Prior to this incident, several stars have made poor choices and still lived to fight another day.

After some time off, hopefully Jericho can come back and do the same.

Keep in mind, you have a voice. Therefore, if there was an incident that I forgot to mention, feel free to sound off in the comments section.

JBL Goose-Stepping in Germany

1 of 5

For obvious reasons, Germany is haunted by its past.

Sadly, the Nazi regime didn't only leave a bad taste in Germany's mouth, but in everyone else's as well.

After Hitler's fall from grace, Germany has been doing their best to escape his shadow and prove he doesn't represent the country's current state nor its rich past.

So, needless to say, attempting to bring back the Nazi "goose-step" in order to attain heat with German fans is a huge no-no.

Ultimately, this move did not go over well, and JBL had to defend his actions.

He told the Washington Post:

"

"I'm a bad guy [on WWE]. I'm supposed to incite the crowd. I've done [the Nazi gestures] for decades. I really didn't think anything of it -- I know how bad it is, I've lived [in Germany]. I've been to Dachau, seen those places where they exterminated millions of Jews."

But, Layfield continued, "I draw the line between me and my character. That's like saying Anthony Hopkins really enjoys cannibalism."

"

In a way, his point was valid. However, you should take the time to know your audience before you act.

Jeff Hardy Unfit to Compete at Pay-Per-View

2 of 5

Jeff Hardy was in the midst of a huge push from TNA, and was pulling off his first real heel turn.

However, even though he was booked for the main event at Victory Road, Hardy was unable to escape his demons.

Ultimately, the build-up to the match lasted longer than the match itself.

As a result, TNA fans and Hardy's opponent were left disgusted by Hardy and the match.

Robbie McAllister Takes in a TNA TV Taping While Under WWE Contract

3 of 5

I am almost certain that WWE and TNA stars take in live events of rival companies.

However, sitting in the audience during their TV taping is virtually unheard of.

Enter Derek Graham-Couch (a.k.a. Robbie McAllister), one half of WWE tag team The Highlanders.

For some reason, he thought he might go unnoticed by fans and TNA management if he wore civilian clothing and didn't make a scene.

However, that was not the case, as TNA cameras not only caught him in the audience but made sure to give him a shout-out on air.

Even as a fan who has never entered the Impact Zone, you must know that place is tiny and there's a good chance of you being spotted.

In the end, Derek Graham-Couch wound up being future endeavored and has yet to bounce back from this incident.

Raven Crucifies Sandman

4 of 5

On the night that Kurt Angle made his ECW debut, Raven decided to push the envelope by crucifying Sandman.

This move proved unfavorable by management, fans and Kurt Angle himself.

Needless to say, had this incident not occurred, Angle would have began his illustrious career in an ECW ring.

Ashley Massaro Gives out Her Phone Number

5 of 5

In an attempt to win fans over, Ashley Massaro decided to give out her real phone number.

The purpose was to hopefully land extra votes from fans in order to win the 2005 Raw Diva's Search.

In the end, Massaro won the contest, but only lasted three years with the company .

Ultimately, after being flooded with phone calls from fans and pranksters, Massaro had to change her number.
