Why Jack Swagger Is the Perfect Opponent for Sheamus

On Friday Night Smackdown Jack Swagger will face Sheamus one-on-one in a non-title match.

However, if like me, you reside in Australia, you will have already seen the match, due to Smackdown airing early on a Friday afternoon.

Spoiler Alert: It's a great match!

Now I'll be honest here, until today I hadn't before considered the possibility of Swagger feuding with Sheamus again.

After all, their five minute match at TLC 2011 had hardly set the world alight.

These days the All-American American seems eternally tied down with Vickie Guerrero on Raw, unfairly put in squash matches with the likes of Brodus Clay and Santino Marella.

But seeing Swagger fight with the equally brutish Sheamus, and hold his own, convinces me that he is finally ready for another shot at the Heavyweight Championship.

In the ring, both are similarly sized, unlike that of Alberto del Rio and the Irishman.

With the predominantly technical rivalry that CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are embroiled in for the WWE Championship, a match-up between two of the bigger guys on the roster would contrast perfectly.

Especially considering that Sheamus' most logical opponent, Mark Henry, is currently sidelined by injury.

At Extreme Rules, Sheamus showed that he has the ability to compete in the more technical matches, having beaten Daniel Bryan in a fight that seemed to resemble a Submission match at times.

The boundaries that separated Raw and Smackdown have been considerably reduced in recent months, no longer are the rosters of either show prevented from "mingling."

This would not only give Swagger the opportunity to appear more on Smackdown, but would give him the perfect excuse to finally abandon his "manager," Guerrero.

Surely he is getting tired of the "Excuse me!!!," introduction?

But don't take my word for it, watch Friday night, and imagine Swagger and Sheamus fighting at No Way Out for the belt instead.

It kind of works, doesn't it?
