Manchester United Transfer Rumours: Robert Lewandowski Would Be Perfect Addition

Manchester United has to find a replacement for the departing Dimitar Berbatov, and Polish striker Robert Lewandowski is the ideal replacement.

Fresh off his hat trick performance in front of Sir Alex Ferguson earlier in May as a member of Borussia Dortmund, the Reds are certainly interested in his services.

Stuart Mathieson of the Manchester Evening News believes the team can use Berbatov to entice Lewandowski’s club to ship him to Man U, but they have to do so quickly:

(T)he Reds may have to speed up their pursuit of Lewandowski. He is the talismanic figure for joint Euro hosts Poland and an impressive tournament will almost certainly alert further suitors and send his cost – thought to be currently in the £15m region – soaring. United are considering using Berbatov as bait to persuade the Germans to do business.

"

Manchester United has become fed up with the Bulgarian, and Mathieson believes there are multiple German clubs that would pounce on Berbatov as he falls out of favor with his current team, but Man U would love to send him to Borussia Dortmund if it lands them Lewandowski.

But the deal would have to be made in a hurry because multiple teams are already courting Berbatov, according to ESPN.

Another reason to make this move quickly is the fast approaching Euro 2012. Poland is the host country and Lewandowski is going to be one of the premier players for the whole world to watch. His value is only going to skyrocket even further.

With the release of Michael Owen, there is certainly a spot for him on this team. Making a deal now to give Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez more help is essential, and one of the keys to becoming a better overall club.  

It’s not going to be cheap, but money is not the issue here. Man U can’t pass up on a talent like Lewandowski.
