UFC 146: Who's on the Hot Seat
UFC 146 is the first main card featuring all heavyweights, and it comes your way Saturday. Headlined by Junior dos Santos and Frank Mir, the card has gone through a number of changes due to injuries and a failed pre-fight drug test.
Coming into this card, there are a handful of fighters who have to be feeling the heat. They are in desperate need of a win or they could receive their pink slips.
Let's take a look at who's on the heat seat for UFC 146.
Dan Hardy
1 of 5Dan Hardy is on the edge of the cliff with his toes curled around the edge. One more loss in the UFC and Hardy is as good as history.
Hardy went from title challenger to a fighter who can't muster a win. After dropping his title bout against Georges St. Pierre, Hardy went on to be knocked out by Carlos Condit, suffered a loss via decision by Anthony Johnson and submitted by Chris Lytle.
Despite all that, the UFC decided to keep Hardy around. Should he lose to fellow striker Duane Ludwig, Hardy will be on the fast track to the unemployment line, though he may be a good fit for Strikeforce.
CB Dollaway
2 of 5CB Dollaway has been a mainstay in the UFC middleweight division since mid-2008, but it all could come to an end with a loss to Jason "Mayhem" Miller.
Dollaway has been destroyed in his last two outings. First, he was knocked senseless by top contender Mark Munoz in less than a minute. Then, Jared Hamman touched Dollaway's chin a couple times and earned a knockout.
Another loss here may spell the end for The Ultimate Fighter 7 runner-up. A win is the only thing that will save him here.
Jason Miller
3 of 5Love him or hate him, Jason "Mayhem" Miller is in dire need of a win to keep his job in the UFC. His debut was nothing short off underwhelming, falling in a knockout at the hands of Michael Bisping.
He showed a lack of cardio in that fight, which led to consideration by Dana White to cut Miller. The fans likely saved Miller's job, so he needs to pick up the victory here.
A loss, especially if it's a poor performance, will end Miller's UFC career. He needs to beat CB Dollaway to continue employment with the world's largest MMA promotion.
Roy Nelson
4 of 5Roy Nelson is one of the best personalities in MMA and a good fighter, but a loss to Dave Herman this weekend could possibly end his relationship with the UFC.
Nelson is 1-3 in his last four, dropping decisions to Junior dos Santos, Frank Mir and Fabricio Werdum. His only win in that span came against an over-the-hill Mirko Cro Cop, so a win against Herman is a must.
Nelson has the tools to win the fight, which he will need to utilize in impressive fashion.
Dave Herman
5 of 5Speaking of colorful personalities, Dave Herman possesses one of the more interesting personalities in MMA today. This fact may not save him should he lose this weekend to Roy Nelson.
Not only would it be his second loss in a row, but it would be after a pre-fight drug test failure at UFC 136. He has competed once since then, but it resulted in a knockout loss to Stefan Struve.
Herman needs to be impressive here or he will face the axe. That would be a shame for a man who knits his own scarves.
