WWE: Why John Cena Needs CM Punk in the Company
John Cena and CM Punk may both be wrestlers who reached the top of WWE, but that is about where their similarities end.
Cena is the man with no tattoos, jean shorts and a haircut you could set a watch by, while Punk is the man covered in ink with greasy hair and traditional wrestling trunks.
Cena is clean-shaven and Punk sports some stubble most nights. Cena is a Boston native while Punk is pure Chicago.

I could go on like this for awhile, but I will get to my point.
By being polar opposites, Cena and Punk have entered into a symbiotic relationship where the two men work off each other very well and have a dynamic similar to other pairings we have seen in the past.
If you look back throughout history, every great wrestler had another great wrestler they were heavily associated with.
Hulk Hogan had several superstars he was often paired with, but none were as different from Hogan as Ric Flair. These two represented two different types of wrestlers and so do Cena and Punk.
Cena is a big bodybuilder whose strength is his greatest asset, whereas Punk is a technical wrestler who uses pure skill to defeat his opponents.
Kind of sounds like Hogan and Flair, doesn't it?
Cena needs Punk because he is the Flair to Cena's Hogan. They are totally different types of wrestlers and yet they mesh well together when in the ring.
The two obviously have respect for each other, but their roads to the top were very different, making them from opposite sides of the tracks, so to speak.
Cena spent a very small amount of time in the business before being recruited by WWE, while Punk busted his ass on the Indy circuit for nearly a decade.
By elevating Punk to the same level as Cena, the WWE brass have effectively created a top feud which can be reignited at anytime throughout what I am sure will be long careers for both men.
Cena also needs Punk in the WWE because he might just be the only person in WWE who is as devoted to the business as Cena.
I do not want to take away from the passion and dedication of all the men and women in WWE, but Cena is known for being the guy who does everything for WWE and Punk is known as being a wrestling purist and historian of sorts.
The matches these two have put on together always exceed expectations and I think that, if done right, they could have the next decade-long feud in WWE.
Do you feel like Cena needs Punk?
