Barrett SalleeJun 7, 2018

Every Wednesday here at The SEC Blog, we will update you on the latest commits, decommits and rumors in the recruiting world.

Commitments

Hayden Rettig has told the LSU staff that he will play for the Tigers in 2013. Rettig is the nation's No. 16 pro-style quarterback, according to 247Sports.com. A native of Los Angels, Calif., he has a big arm and can stretch the field like the Tigers hope current quarterback Zach Mettenberger will this season.

Auburn got its quarterback of the future when Jeremy Johnson, a 4-star prospect by 247Sports.com, committed to play for the Tigers in 2013. At 6'5", 215, Johnson has drawn comparisons to former Auburn quarterback Jason Campbell. According to Jay G. Tate of the Montgomery AdvertiserJohnson was the prize recruit for new offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler.

Not to be outdone, Austin Allen, a 4-star prospect and the No. 15 pro-style quarterback prospect in the country by 247Sports.com, pledged to play for John L. Smith and the Arkansas Razorbacks. The 6'2", 205-pounder is a Fayetteville native, and the recent success of Arkansas quarterbacks surely impressed him.

Joining Allen in Fayetteville will be his high school teammates Brooks Ellis and Alex Brignoni.

Ellis is a 6'2", 215-pound inside linebacker that is rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports.com. He will need to bulk up to play inside linebacker in the SEC, but he has the athleticism to move to safety if needed.

Brignoni is also a 3-star prospect at safety. He is the No. 5 prospect in the state of Arkansas, and held offers from Arkansas and Arkansas State.

Alabama continued its hot streak of attracting 5-star prospects, when Jonathan Allen—the nation's No. 1 weak-side defensive end, according to 247Sports.com—committed to the Tide over the weekend. At 6'3", 245, Allen is a big-time pass-rusher that will harass opposing quarterbacks in the SEC. Alabama runs a 3-4, so expect Allen to make the move to linebacker when he arrives in Tuscaloosa.

Joining Allen in Tuscaloosa will be 6'4", 285-pound defensive tackle Darius Paige. Paige has a big frame and can grow into a solid interior lineman in defensive coordinator Kirby Smart's 3-4 scheme.

Georgia got a commitment from 3-star offensive line prospect Josh Cardiello. Cardiello is a 6'3", 285-pound offensive guard that is rated as the No. 21 offensive guard in the country by 247Sports.com. He chose Georgia over offers from South Carolina and Florida.

Tennessee hopped on board the commitment train this week with the commitment of 4-star safety Kameron Miles. Miles is a 6'2", 202-pounder. According to Patrick Brown of the Chattanooga Times Free Press, he committed to the Vols without having step foot on campus.

Herbert Moore, a 6'2", 330-pound monster of a defensive end, continued the hot streak for Hugh Freeze's Ole Miss Rebels. Moore is a native of Memphis, Tenn., and chose the Rebels over offers from Vanderbilt, Clemson, North Carolina and Illinois.

News and Rumors

Derrick Henry, the nation's No. 13 overall prospect, is wavering on his commitment to play for the Georgia Bulldogs, according to Andrew Bone of Scout.com and Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Alabama assistant coach Burton Burns visited Henry this week, and convinced the 6'3", 240-pounder to take a visit to Tuscaloosa later this summer.
