Barcelona FC: Breaking Down Barca's New Home and Away Kits
If these new kits are any indication, Barcelona is not handling coming in second to Real Madrid well. They are like the middle-aged man whose wife just left him and he decided he should get his ear pierced and hair spiked.
In other words, the desperate attempt to look hip just doesn't work. Let's take a closer look at the home kits with this unraveling picture, found on Mirror Football.
Gone are the crisp, authoritative stripes. They have been replaced by this blurred and blended transition of colors.

Here is a good look at the backs in this picture by Luis Herrera on Goal.com.
This pic gives us a better look at the blending of color. It is a very pixelated transition, and it just doesn't work.
I don't even like the numbering on this one. What is with the slash right in the top and bottom of the eight? The number would have looked much better being solid.
Now, if you'd please put your sunglasses on, we will take a look at the away kits.
Holy headaches! How are these even legal? It isn't fair for another team to have to stare at these obnoxiously loud clothes for an entire match.
What was the kit designer, Nike, thinking?
Actually, here is what they were thinking. Yahoo's Eurosport presented this quote from Nike on the away kits, "explosion of bright colour to celebrate the club's effervescent style of play."
Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize Barca ran around the pitch booting balls wildly into the stands while screaming Lady Gaga songs at the top of their lungs because that is what style of play this look would represent.
If this last picture didn't blind you, let's take a look at one more. This pic, found on Figo29.com, gives us a look at both with the shorts in there.
The home shorts look like something you would wear to bed on a warm night. It is nice to see the red on the side of the away kits in this pic. At least they got that somewhere in these monstrosities.
Overall Grade: 1 out of 5 stars
This is a questionable, at best, new look for this iconic club. I can't imagine their talented and well-paid players are excited to don these abrasive outfits.
I suppose they could have been worse, but I am not creative enough to figure out how. If I was, I'd be designing uniforms for Nike.
