Alabama Football Recruiting: Jonathan Allen's Commitment Continues Hot Streak

Barrett SalleeJun 7, 2018

Alabama has won two of the last three BCS National Championships and has signed the nation's No. 1 recruiting class in each of the last two seasons, according to 247Sports.com.

That momentum appears to be continuing.

The Crimson Tide got a big commitment on Monday when defensive end Jonathan Allen committed to play football in Tuscaloosa, according to Matt Scalici of al.com.

Allen is a 6'3", 245-pound weak-side defensive end from Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, Va. He is a 5-star prospect according to 247Sports.com, and is ranked as the nation's No. 1 weak-side defensive end and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Virginia.

Since Alabama runs a 3-4, Allen could be converted to an outside linebacker to take advantage of his pass-rushing ability. He's one of the most athletic players in the class of 2013, and there's little doubt that head coach Nick Saban will find a place for him once he arrives on campus.

It's another recruiting win for Saban, who has been doing a lot of that lately.

Alabama has two 5-star commitments and 10 4-star commitments already in the class of 2013. That class is currently ranked as the No. 2 class in the country behind Michigan, according to 247Sports.com.

Great coaches not only win on the field, but they win on the recruiting trail. Saban is doing both at an extremely high level.
