John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis: Breaking Down What's Next in WWE's Main Feud

Donald WoodMay 21, 2012

After one of the oddest main events in WWE pay-per-view history, John Laurinaitis beat John Cena with the help of the Big Show to close the Over the Limit event.

As sad as it is that this feud is the main focus of the company, there are many ways this storyline could go, coming out of the PPV.

They all have to be better than that dreadful match.

With as convoluted a storyline as you could ever imagine, it will be interesting to see what WWE buried CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan for. It better be good!

Johnny Ace’s Abuse of Power

As we saw before Over the Limit, Johnny Ace had become a great heel corporate leader who was doing a solid job turning the fans against him with his actions.

With a win over a fan-favorite like John Cena, I can’t wait to hear what the GM has to say and what kind of horrible things he will do to people this week. That’s the fun of having a Vince McMahon-esque leader to hate.

With the Laurinaitis regime in control, Johnny Ace, Eve and David Otunga will become even more of power-hungry heels. It should be great.

John Cena’s Fall From Grace

After losing to The Rock at WrestleMania and getting beat down by Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules before stealing the win, there is no doubt that John Cena isn’t the superman anymore.

Now that Johnny Ace is back in charge, there is no doubt that the GM will try and make WWE’s biggest star pay the consequences for messing with him. You can expect a nice picture montage of all the degrading things Cena did to Laurinaitis at Over the Limit on Raw tonight.

Just as fans had grown tired of Cena and his winning ways, his recent lack of success hasn’t helped the ratings at all. It will be interesting to see how far Cena falls before WWE panics.

Big Show’s Heel Turn

Many fans have talked about how the Big Show and his baby-face character have grown stale over the past few months, so a potential heel turn is something to look forward to.

This will be a drawn out storyline that will feature Big Show battling his inner doubts before ultimately making the decision to be a bad guy. If this is Big Show’s last run in WWE, we shouldn’t be surprised to see him contemplate turning heel before ultimately staying face in a last hurrah.

Either way, it’s more interesting than him smiling and giving his hats to kids.
