Grading the Effectiveness of Chris Jericho's Latest WWE Run
With the talk that WWE superstar Chris Jericho may once again be leaving the company to return to the road with his band Fozzy, it’s time to look back at Y2J’s most recent wrestling run.
As much as we didn’t want to see one of our favorite wrestlers come back to the WWE to job for stars that needed to be put over, that’s exactly what we got.
Once we get over our own hatred of the PPV losing streak for the man that once unified the world titles, the WWE Universe must realize this return was exactly what the company needed.

It won’t be Jericho’s last run, you can be sure of that.
Returned as a Heel
As fun as Y2J was as a face earlier in his career, there's no doubt he's a much better heel and one of the best in the company.
The WWE made the smart move making Jericho return as the bad guy.
While the silence gimmick was definitely a way to get people to hate him in the beginning, it was such a waste to watch a company starved for great talkers silence arguably the best in the business.
After he started speaking, though, it was good ol’ Jericho.
Grade: B+
Wins and Losses
Chris Jericho didn’t come back to the WWE this time to win a championship, or for that matter, any meaningful match at all.
Since his return, Y2J has not won a match on a PPV.
Ouch.
For a man that returned to the WWE with a promise of ending the world as we knew it, he sure did lose a lot. Maybe he thought he could change the world by losing consistently, but he didn’t.
Grade: D+
Putting Stars Over
The reason Vince McMahon brought back Chris Jericho was to put over CM Punk.
It’s really that simple.
After a long feud that saw Punk beat one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, we can see now Jericho wanted to be a part of putting over the new face of the WWE in CM Punk.
Many have compared CM Punk to Stone Cold Steve Austin, but Y2J may have just cemented that comparison.
If more stars continue to try and comeback to feud with Punk just to put him over, the WWE may actually buy into Punk’s anti-hero persona even more than they have already.
Grade: A+
Overall
While the fans that love Jericho will hate this return, looking back on it shows this is exactly what the WWE was trying to do all along. Even during Jericho’s match at Over the Limit, he was putting stars over left and right.
Fans should have known that the WWE would not put over Jericho with a title if he was just leaving again in a few months. The best the Jericholics can hope for now is another return after Fozzy is off the road.
Maybe he can win gold then.
