Nadal and Djokovic have played in two finals already this year, at the Australian Open and the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters, with each man winning once. 

They will look to break their tie in the finals of the Masters 2012 final. Nadal needed a dominant performance in this event, not only to build momentum for the French Open, but to get his confidence going following a disappointing third-round loss at the Madrid Open two weeks ago. 

Nadal dropped down to third in the world rankings thanks to that loss, behind Djokovic and long-time rival Roger Federer. 

Djokovic has not been quite as dominant this year as he was in 2011, but he is still the best player in the world. His performance has put him in that rarefied air of elite players who are expected to be in the finals of every event they enter. 

These two have developed one of the best rivalries in the sport. It has not quite reached the level of Federer-Nadal, but they have been able to put on some of the best matches in recent years, including their epic battle in the Australian Open finals this year. 

While the stakes won't be quite as high in the Masters 2012 final, neither superstar is going to relent in his pursuit of a championship.
