WWE Over the Limit 2012 Results: Christian Wins Intercontinental Title

In an incredible display of stamina and pure wrestling skill, Christian defeated Cody Rhodes at Over the Limit to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.

It was a marathon event for Christian, who first had to survive a People Power Battle Royal, where he eventually eliminated The Miz to earn the right to wrestle Santino or Cody Rhodes.

He initially picked Santino, but after hearing Rhodes badmouth him backstage, he changed his mind, electing instead to challenge Rhodes for his Intercontinental title.

How it Happened

Rhodes looked strong early, landing a brutal Superplex on Christian. Christian then managed to roll Rhodes over, but the former champ was able to kick out.

The match then left the ring and spilled out onto the floor, where Rhodes connected on a vicious drop kick. After getting back into the ring, Rhodes attempted to pin Christian, but he kicked out as well.

After that, all the momentum was in Christian's favor. Rhodes was able to escape a Killswitch and evade a cross body attempt as Christian dove from the top rope, but Rhodes' luck soon ran out.

Following a little back-and-forth action, Christian connected on a nasty Killswitch and pinned Rhodes to secure the victory.

What it Means

Christian stole Rhodes' Intercontinental title, the fourth time Christian has captured that belt in his illustrious career. He also turned face in the process, establishing himself as one of the company's top heroes.

Meanwhile, Rhodes has an uphill battle to reclaim his title. Although it took him just one month to capture the belt again after losing it at WrestleMania 28, I'd be shocked if he pulls off a similar feat this time around.
