WWE over the Limit 2012 Results: Christian Wins the Opening Bout
Christian won a battle royal in the opening bout of WWE Over the Limit, and has, thus, earned the right to face Santino Marella for the United States Championship.
Christian’s participation in the pay-per-view was undoubtedly anticipated, as he has been gone from active competition from quite some time. The last time we saw Christian, he was heel of course, but as is often the case when a Superstar returns from injury, he got a good pop from the crowd.
But, this is also due in large part to the fact that Christian is so well-liked by WWE fans.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Despite what side of the fence he’s on, Christian remains one of the most entertaining workers in the company. The truth is, when he has run heel in the past, he has always received a good reaction for his efforts.
There's just something about “Captain Charisma” that fans seem to latch onto.
Perhaps, it's his cockiness—the way he totally dismisses the crowd as if they have no impact on him.
Or, perhaps, it's his peeps—the group of fans who support Christian in every endeavor, despite the fact that when he is heel, this particular set of fans is not all that vocal with their love for him.
For me, the most endearing part of Christian’s character is his sense of humor.
The guy is just having a blast out there. No matter what he’s doing or who he’s working, he's very aware of who he is and has always seemed comfortable in his own skin.
At this point in his career, a guy like Christian could very well sit back and ease up somewhat, maybe even go into cruise control, with his character.
But, for Christian, he's just as entertaining today as he was when tagging with his former partner Edge.
Edge and Christian together, of course, were a laugh riot—very funny, very clever with their comedy and completely oblivious to the outside world.
As Edge’s character began to mature, and he became the Rated R Superstar, Christian continued with his gimmick, putting as much personality as possible into his work.
It’s because of this, and because of the fact that fans have so much respect for what he’s done in the past, that he just gets over in practically any situation he finds himself in.
He’s a great heel; there's no disputing that. But, there's also no disputing that the take, he has on his character, has in many ways, been utilized by Daniel Bryan.
Bryan is very similar to Christian, in as much as he seems so out of touch with reality, screaming “yes,” completely convinced of his superiority in the ring and not all bothered by the fact that he is often getting booed out of the building.
Notice, I said often.
The truth is, Bryan is over. Depending on what city WWE runs, Bryan usually gets a pretty good response from fans. He is becoming very likeable, very quickly.
Again, this is very reminiscent of Christian’s character, and one has to wonder if SmackDown would indeed have room for two Superstars running such similar gimmicks.
Perhaps, a face turn is in order for Christian?
One thing at a time, of course, as Christian will now face Santino later in Over the Limit for the United States Championship.
Stay tuned folks. This one is not over yet.
**Update!! Thanks to Cody Rhodes taking a jab at Christian backstage, Captain Charisma will now be wrestling for the Intercontinental Championship! Told you this one wasn't over yet!**
