WWE over the Limit 2012 Predictions: Why Sheamus Must Win Fatal 4-Way Match

Timothy RappJun 7, 2018

It's a tricky situation Sheamus finds himself in, having to defend his World Heavyweight Championship in a Fatal Four-Way match where he could unjustly lose if someone else gets pinned, or he happens to get ganged up on at some point.

It's a sticky situation for Sheamus, no two ways about that.

And that is why, if the WWE is serious about putting him over, it makes the most sense to have him overcome the hurdle and simply beat the crap out of his three opponents in the end to ensure he keeps his title and does so in style.

What motivation does the WWE have for giving the title to Chris Jericho, an aging superstar who's done well to put over some of the younger talent in recent memory and may not be with the company much longer? There's another way to give the ole wily vet a glorious send-off, but this isn't it.

Same with Randy Orton. Sure, he's got plenty of good wrestling in him yet, but he's a respected-enough name in the business that he doesn't really need the bump. Would winning a World Heavyweight Championship really add to his already-sterling legacy?

Nah, not really.

And then there's Alberto Del Rio who, let's be honest, wouldn't really excite anyone all that much if he won.

No, the logical choice is Sheamus.

The WWE needs to continue to push him to see if he can be a torch-bearer for the company moving forward, overcoming the many pitfalls of a Fatal Four-Way is a brilliant way to give him a bump and he'd be doing it against classic talents like Jericho and Orton, who don't need the title.

It's the obvious move, which, of course, means it might be the exact opposite of what happens. Perhaps the company has a few more tricks up their sleeve that I'm not seeing at the moment.

But as it stands for now, a Sheamus win is the way to go. Don't be surprised if he retains his belt in a particularly compelling fashion.

Hit me up on Twitter—my tweets will gladly have another as well.
