Preakness 2012 Results: Creative Cause Will Steal Thunder at Belmont Stakes

I'll Have Another will have millions of eyes watching him attempt to be the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.

While everyone is watching I'll Have Another, Creative Cause will steal the thunder at the Belmont Stakes.

After finishing fifth at Churchill Downs and third at Pimlico, Creative Cause is ready for another two-spot jump on June 9.

According to David Ginsburg of the Associated Press, Creative Cause's trainer admits that his horse got outrun.

“He just got outrun,’’ Mike Harrington said. “He always brings his best race. He just couldn’t outrun those horses today.’’

Harrington admits that Creative Cause always brings 100 percent effort to every race.

We have seen steady improvement from Creative Cause over the past two events. A fifth-place finish at Kentucky Derby was disappointing, but a third-place finish at the Preakness was much better.

Expect to see another solid performance for Creative Cause.

Will it be enough, though? I'll Have Another will certainly be under the microscope, but you can't deny his stretch runs in the past two races. He digs himself a hole, but continues to find ways to storm back.

But winning the Triple Crown rarely happens for a reason—it's difficult to win three in a row when you are forced to trust a horse.

That leaves the door open for other horses including Creative Cause. If any horse is ready to steal the spotlight, it's Creative Cause.
