Bay to Breakers 2012 Results: Sammy Kitwara Finishes 1 Minute off Own Record
The results for the 2012 Bay to Breakers 12k race are in. Sammy Kitwara won the race, and finished one minute off of his own world record.
Kitwara ran a 34:42, finishing about one minute ahead of the race's second-place finisher.

Kitwara also won the race in 2009. That year, Kitwara tied the world record for a 12k race with a 33:31 time.
This year's Bay to Breakers was Kitwara's third overall time winning the race. His victories in 2009 and 2010 look even better with the addition of this year's trophy to his collection.
Kitwara is an accomplished road racer. He has won six half marathons since 2008, and six other races during that time period. Kitwara specializes in 10k and 12k lengths with half marathons being his endurable limit.
The Bay to Breakers is known for is plethora of competitors, crazy costumes and beautiful San Francisco scenery.
Kitwara's noteworthy performances keep things interesting and make the contest seem like a real race with no possible distractions.
The Kenya native finished almost one minute off his world record-tying time this year. Maybe he can pass it next time around.
