WWE over the Limit 2012: CM Punk Shouldn't Lose WWE Title to Daniel Bryan

Andrew KulhaJun 7, 2018

Daniel Bryan and CM Punk will square off at Over the Limit 2012 with the WWE championship on the line, but as far as I'm concerned this match has already been settled.

CM Punk is the best in the world and there is no doubt about that, so there is no way that he's going to lose his belt to the likes of Bryan, who is easily one of the most slippery and smug heels out there.

It all boils down to the issue of deserving, and this is a belt that Punk deserves to keep.

He's had his showdowns with some of the best of the best in the WWE world and he's come out on top time and time again. Look no further than his recent feud with Chris Jericho for proof of that statement.

Not only was Punk able to withstand the multiple official and unofficial beatings Jericho threw his way, but he also proved to be emotionally capable of dealing with the personal attacks against both himself and his family.

Punk was embarrassed, beaten down and looked like he had been defeated, but in the end he prevailed.

CM Punk is a worthy WWE champion.

That's not something we can say about Bryan.

Ever since losing the World Championship belt to Sheamus at Wrestlemania 28 in 18 seconds, Bryan has been a heel's heel. He's also been a coward's coward.

He's provoked, taunted and sometimes weaseled his way to cheap victories, and the way that he treated A.J. after the "kiss of death" has been despicable.

Is this the guy that you want holding the WWE title belt?

If he were constantly winning in the ring then perhaps his character flaws could be ignored, but there isn't any way you can justify even his in-ring performances. He had his chance to get the World Championship belt back from Sheamus at Extreme Rules, but he couldn't even beat Sheamus there.

While there may have been a time where Bryan was dominant in the ring, that time has come and gone.

Meanwhile, CM Punk is not only dominating between the ropes, but he's winning fans over on the mic and with his rebellious attitude towards the always hated general manager John Laurinaitis.

CM Punk has proven that he deserves to be the WWE Champion, while Bryan has proven that he's nowhere close to being on Punk's level.

Punk shouldn't lose to Bryan and Over the Limit, and if you're asking me, he won't.
