Preakness 2012 Results: Complete List of Final Times and Payouts
I'll Have Another wrote the second chapter of his storybook run, winning the 2012 Preakness by exploding past Bodemeister on the home stretch.
The finish was almost an exact replica of the Kentucky Derby, only this time I'll Have Another and jockey Mario Gutierrez waited until the last possible second to steal the victory.
After dominating the first half of the race, the quick-starting Bodemeister once again faded down the stretch. I'll Have Another took advantage, and now will look to achieve legendary status at this year's Belmont Stakes.
With a win at the Belmont (Saturday, June 9), I'll Have Another will become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.
Of course, history is not on his side. Since the last winner, 11 horses have completed the first two stages of the Triple Crown, only to fall at the Belmont. Given the quality of his last two performances, however, I like I'll Have Another's chances.
In the meantime, here are the final payouts, results and times from the 2012 Preakness.
