Preakness 2012 Results: Final Standings for Entire Field
Hollywood is one race away from producing a movie about Mario Gutierrez and I'll Have Another.
The two pulled off another incredible win in their bid for the Triple Crown, snatching victory away from Bodemeister at the last possible moment. Now, the Belmont Stakes (Saturday, June 9) is the only event separating I'll Have Another from becoming the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.
The Preakness was a repeat of the pair's Kentucky Derby win, as they ran down the fading Bodemeister in the final stretch.
Like the Derby, Bodemeister exploded out of the gates, running the first quarter mile in 23.75 seconds. But he once again faded down the stretch, as I'll Have Another surged past. Creative Cause rounded out the top three.
Here are the complete payouts and results from the 2012 Preakness.
