I'll Have Another: Where Did Kentucky Derby Winner Finish at 2012 Preakness?

Mike MoraitisJun 7, 2018

I'll Have Another's quest for the Triple Crown will continue after his dramatic victory over Bodemeister down the stretch of the Preakness Stakes.

The Kentucky Derby winner finished what was one of the most memorable races at Pimlico in recent years after catching Bodemeister, who once again ran out in front for most of the race.

It looked like a carbon copy of the race at Churchill Downs right until the end.

While Bodemeister took an easier pace than he did in the Derby, he still ran a fast race that had him in the lead for the majority of the way.

I'll Have Another ran an incredibly patient race and laid back, waiting for the right time to strike. As he made his turn down the stretch amongst the Top Three, I'll Have Another turned on the jets and ended up blowing past Bodemeister for a photo finish of epic proportions.

There is no question that I'll Have Another is for real, and there can certainly be no more doubt about his ability to finish this improbable run to the Triple Crown.

Bodemeister's speed was special, but I'll Have Another's ability to close out a race was simply legendary and far too impressive for Bodemeister to outlast.

Now on to the Belmont Stakes and a chance to witness history.

I'll Have Another will have his longest race to run in his Triple-Crown bid. Belmont has made and broken many great horses in the sport's history, but I'll Have Another's great patience and special ability to finish makes him a huge favorite in two weeks.
