I'll Have Another: Belmont Stakes Won't Be Successful as Preakness 2012
There is a reason why horses fail to win the Triple Crown—it's difficult to win three races in a row when you don't know what to expect.
As much as I would LOVE to see the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978, I'll Have Another won't see the same success at the 2012 Belmont Stakes as he did at the 2012 Preakness.
His Triple Crown hopes will be dashed at the mile-and-a-half track.
You just don't see it happen in the world of horse racing; the odds are severely stacked against I'll Have Another.
We will see the pressure cranked to an all-time high nearing June 9, and that sort of pressure is something many would crumble under.
It's impossible not to feel it.
Bodemeister could very well be in position to win the Triple Crown if I'll Have Another didn't dominate the past two stretches at the Kentucky Derby and Preakness.
But, you have to give credit where credit is due and that's to I'll Have Another and his jockey Mario Gutierrez.
It will end in three weeks, sadly. Again, as much as I would love to witness history, the odds are too much to overcome.
But the best thing about this situation is the fact that the entire world will be talking about horse racing in three weeks. The ratings will be through the roof. It will be instantly trending on Twitter.
The anticipation built on this one race will be unlike anything you will ever see.
Let the games begin!
