Weather conditions are vital to the outcome of a big race like the 2012 Preakness Stakes, so being caught up on the latest weather and track conditions is equally as important.
The outcome of a race can be drastically altered depending on what the weather has been or will be like leading up to race time, and that's something that can drastically alter your picks.
A good horse racing fan stays up to date on the weather conditions, so this is the place to be if you're interested in the latest from Pimlico as you prepare for the 2012 Preakness Stakes.
Here's a rundown of the latest out of Baltimore.
Track Conditions
According to Preakness.com, the Pimlico track conditions are listed as "fast," and the turf condition is listed as "firm."
The site also lets us know that the temperature at the track is 82 degrees, and it looks to be cloudy.
What This Means
Fast track conditions and a firm turf will lead to some very fast racing. This really plays nicely for the horses that want to get out in front of the crowd and burn their way to the finish line. Odds favorite Bodemeister will benefit, as there is a good chance he'll try to go wire to wire.
Weather Outlook
If you go check out the hourly forecast from weather.com, you'll see some very favorable images for horse racing fans. While there are currently some clouds, once the afternoon settles in and race time approaches, it looks like it's going to clear up and leave us with a sunny afternoon and early evening, and the temperature will stay in the 80s.
What This Means
This means that we can expect great racing conditions and a beautiful afternoon and evening of horse racing. Don't expect the weather to give you much trouble in regards to your picks.
