Top Horses to Watch
I'll Have Another
The winner of the Kentucky Derby, I'll Have Another, will have the impossible pressure of being the only horse in the race that has a chance at the illustrious Triple Crown.
Don't look for I'll Have Another to jump out in front of the pack, but rather stay back and wait to make his move. If he proved anything in his first race, it's that he has incredible closing speed.
Look for a late surge towards the end of the race from I'll Have Another and a top-three finish to show for it.
Bodemeister
Bodemeister is the favorite in this race simply because of his elite speed and stamina which was on full display at Churchill Downs. From beginning to end, Bodemeister nearly had the stamina to run a historic race.
If not for his tank running empty, Bodemeister might be on the road to history in the Preakness this weekend, but instead, he will look to pick up his first win of the Triple Crown.
This race will be slightly shorter than the first leg of the Triple Crown and that will give Bodemeister a huge advantage. He should have just enough to finish stronger than he did at Churchill Downs and that means nobody, not even I'll Have Another, will be able to catch him this time.
Went the Day Well
The biggest problem Went the Day Well had in the Derby was getting caught in traffic which is something he'll be able to avoid in a smaller field at Pimlico.
Despite a poor breaking, Went the Day Well finished strong and nearly in the money at Churchill Downs.
Expect Went the Day Well to have much more success in this race with more space to operate. Just like I'll Have Another, Went the Day Well will look to make his move down the stretch and surge to victory.
