Preakness Predictions 2012: Why Bodemeister Will Take Pimlico by Storm
Bodemeister's near-miss in the Kentucky Derby proved that their isn't a horse more primed to win the Preakness Stakes than the runner-up at Churchill Downs.
I'll Have Another barely had enough time to make his move and pass the leading Bodemeister. Bob Baffert's horse was out in front for the majority of the race and it was incredible the amount of speed and endurance the horse displayed.
I couldn't help but think that if Pimlico was the first leg of the Triple Crown, Bodemeister might still have hopes of making history.
The track for the Preakness will be slightly shorter than the track for the Derby and that will greatly benefit the faster horse.
I'll Have Another won't enjoy the advantage of a tiring Bodemeister and thus, will have to make his move sooner rather than later. And such a move would have to be up against an energized Bodemeister.
That would be a hard, tiring foot race to the finish for I'll Have Another.
There's no question that Bodemeister is a special horse. You can tell that just from watching his run in the Derby. Had Bodemeister just waited longer to make his move, he could've easily blown out his competition by record lengths.
Don't forget, his first five clicks were nothing short of historic.
It's time that Bodemeister stakes his claim in history and what better way to do that than to win the Preakness by convincing margins. Such a victory would not only put him in the books as a great horse, but also give him a chance to finish strong at the Belmont Stakes and really claim his place in history.
Don't forget: Two out of three ain't bad.
